Hepatitis C
- It is caused by a RNA virus: HCV (Hepatitis C virus)
- It is transmitted by blood.
- It causes liver inflammation, sometimes leading to serious liver damage.
- 50 – 80% develop chronic liver disease, 20% of these develop cirrhosis
- High risk for hepatocellular carcinoma, particularly among patients with alcoholic liver cirrhosis.
