Sepsis
- It is a systemic response of your body to infection.
- You will have an elevation of your heartbeat and respiratory rate, fever or decrease in your body temperature and an inadequate irrigation of your organs
- It is caused by a bacterial infection that start in any part of your body
- Sometimes, the bacteria get in through an IV catheter
- When sepsis is serious, your organs may shut down.
- For example, your brain could stop working partially losing consciousness, your kidneys may stop making urine or your lungs may stop oxygenate.
- Sometimes, blood pressure drops resulting in shock.
- It is treated with antibiotics and fluids and sometimes require oxygen, dialysis machine even surgery
