Long Term Antibiotic IV Treatment

  • Certain pathogens require intravenous antibiotic therapy
  • Some infections (osteomyelitis or endocarditis) may require antibiotics to be given intravenously for a long time, often 4 to 6 weeks.
  • Patients require close follow up to avoid complication of this therapy or infection or malfunction of IV catheters
